happy thanksgiving!!

Happy, happy thanksgiving everyone!!

these past few weeks have been so busy it doesn't even seem like a holiday to me yet. maybe it will when i bake up these little pumpkins we got for my favorite pie ever- pumpkin! it's also the first time I haven't been home to California for Thanksgiving with the family.

Lots & lots is happening for MR latey... I did my first big wholesale order for Reform School (my favorite shop in California), did a trunk show and demonstration for Kate's Paperie, had a wonderful and humbling featuring InStyle Magazine (see my last post here) and I have new work in the shop (zodiac embroidery kits & rad cross and arrow pins).

So lets have a little celebration of all this craziness  & get even busier (I hope)! Lets do a Handmade Black Friday, just use this coupon code, PUMPKIN, all day 11/26 in my shop for 20% off all paper goods, embroidery kits, pins, and basically everything but custom embroidery pieces.  Sorry no can do on the custom embroidery work. Sad face, but I have a swollen hand and lots to stitch...

MR in InStyle Magazine

So many thank yous to InStyle Magazine and Alexis Bittar for the Holiday Gift Guide feature! I'm incredibly excited and honored to be featured here. For a small handmade, one-woman craft business this press feels very good. Now I need to get the magazine and see it in print!

Thank you, thank you! And if you found your way here from InStyle, welcome!!

30 years is a long time...

This piece is one of the biggest I've done and while I toiled away hand embroidering 30 tree rings I thought a lot about time and commitment.

I'm feeling sick lately and super stressed- lots to do and not enough time. My boo helps me so much so that i can keep working ridiculous hours stitching and making. Thanks mang for the help and patience!

I'm so thankful for my custom requests that keep me making new things and flexing my crafty brain. Thank you Danielle for this request! I hope they love it as much as I do!

And I'm curious whats the biggest or most time consuming project you've done?

come make with me NY...

sneak peaks & upcoming event...

I recently asked my FB and blog friends what they'd like to see in the MR shop for the holidays and I got so many great suggestions. Thanks ladies!!  I'm working so hard to make them happen in time.   It's already that time of year!  I'm hoping to have a big shop update by Nov. 11 to coincide with a trunk show event at Kate's Paperie where I will debut in person my new items!  If you are in NY please stop by all the info is below and I'll post more about it later too.

11/8 UPDATE: Still will have kits, but not silk screened- ran into too many problems and just couldn't produce them. It makes me so sad to not be able to offer them on linen. I just about went mad trying to figure it out though and hit my limit. If any NY/Brooklyn silk screeners out there can share their expertise hit me up!! hello {at} miniaturerhino{dot}com

So here are some sneak peaks of some of the new things I'll be offering very soon; Consetllation Embroidery Kits (I'm silk screening them on beautiful linen fabric!!), new pins (lots of different colors and designs) and Embroidered Cards Kit (diy!)....
What do you think?!

Oh, and here is more info on the Kate's Paperie Event!!

the witch in me...

I know Halloween in over, but I wish it wasn't I love dressing up, baking pumpkin pie and visiting old farms on blustery days. I though I'd share my Halloween costume with you.  It was created around this little witch hat made by Chad of Mon Petit Fantome (you must check out his music too!)  I loooove it so much and am tempted to wear it always. It's so perfect and cute and really made my outfit.

I had fun putting together the details... a cast bat skull, a sacred heart necklace,  of a thousand sorrows, by Blood Milk (one of my favorite things to wear!!), a vial containing crystals and coral, feathers, a string of tiger eye stones, and a little drawstring bag filled potion-y.

came home to my own little dæmon, bug in a little pumpkin bandana.
