My lately...

what's up lately...

1. Studio organization never ends.
2. Banjo cat with his little pouty lower lip. You should have seen his eyes when we first found him. What a recovery!
3. My new Purl class is tonight! I'm really excited, so I made a new sample piece for it. You can check out my classes page or FB to stay up to date with my latest classes.
4. Did you see my latest DIY project to make snail mail even better?
5. Exploring an old building with my fave model, the handsomest Jeremy.
6. This is my favorite pic of the past week- Bug watching me walk our new foster dog Mrs. Lillian Vernon. Jealous, creepy and cute.

Speaking of, meet Mrs. Lill in all her tiny, sweetness. She was found wondering the streets in the Bronx, dirty, scared and starving. I'm fattening her up and hopefully helping to restore her confidence with people. She's 12, but so spunky. If you or anyone you know would like to adopt her hit me up or Badass Brooklyn Rescue.

Lillian Vernon

Her funny tail kills me! Hope you had a great weekend!

my lately...

week 3.5.2012

1. Making little sweet love notes.
2. I gots my hrrr did! I've wanted to rock a shaved side for.ever. Finally, just up and did it. Still getting used to it- feels so weird.
3. A trip to the Rubin Museum. This was my favorite piece of the current show, Modernist Art from India. Those colors and that red wall! I also have baby brain right now so...
4. Every weekend I think, "What should I do?" And I know I should clean, or do laundry, or something responsible, but somehow sweets & NY always win. This week, Dunwell Donuts & tea then the book store.
5. Spent many hours at Kinokuniya just browsing Japanese craft books- love their aesthetic. I also got a bunch of paper & stationary goods to make a little care package for my mom.
6. I did get in some Sunday cleaning, but instead of feeling accomplished I just feel like a hoarder. I've got so much stuff: mounds of paper, vintage this & thats, acorns, rocks, fabric, threads, and so much random stuff. Halp!

Best part of my weekend was just being lazy at home. Jeremy made some  no bake cookies and we just hung out. I'm such a homebody. What was the best part of your weekend?

Calling you out...

My un-office! p.s do you see the creepy glowing eyes?

And by you, I mean, me. Working for myself and from home should not be taken for granted, and truthfully, sometimes I do.  It can be difficult to navigate business/freelancing,  and to balance work/life. But I also have an amazing mount of flexibility, like being able to foster a dog in need or to travel home when I needed to be with my family.

I've heard that one of the secrets to happiness is being grateful for what you have. I know it's not that easy, so I hope that this doesn't sound trite, but taking this pic did change my mood. To remove myself from my work for a second, to step back and see the light pooling in and how comfy this scene was in my living room, I felt grateful.

Happy Friday friends!

Instagram me....

I've become totally obsessed with instagram lately. When I have some time to kill, I like to check in on my feed and see what people are up to all over the world at that exact moment. It's fun to see a peak into peoples lives and the filters make the pictures so visually stunning.  I thought it'd be fun to share my past week in instagrams...

1. J got me the Thin Man box set for valentine's day. We've been making our way through the movies, which makes it feel like a fun extension of v-day. Everyday's the 14th!
2. Banjo vogue-ing! aka beggin for food. FEED ME!
3. We started meal planning, which has helped me to cook more. Here's a (vegan) hamburger pie on my eat your heart out plate.
4. This is my "Hey girl,...." pic. You add the rest, like "Hey girl, lets just stay in tonight and cuddle" or.....?
5. Embroidery thread heaven.
6. Apparently, anything is a cat bed in my casa.
7. Organized my entry way this weekend. Less clutter = more happy.
8. B & B, Brunch and Balderdash
9. I make stars. Lots & lots of embroidery kits being assembled this week.

You can find me @miniaturerhino and through followgram. Followgram is great for browsing instagram on your computer. Are you on instagram?

Happy holidays to you...

Just wanted to wish you all happy holidays & a Merrrrry Christmas!!

i'm on the instagrams...

This is my grandfather, who has quite a collection of really old photobooth pictures, my favorite kind of old photograph...

I finally can join in the instagram party. Since I got an early Christmas gift (an iphone for me!) I've been facetiming with my boo in NY and taking pictures.  Best gift! I don't know half of the little functions on it, or even how to link you to follow me (?), but it's lot of fun to mess about with. Must admit I resisted the instagram, but after clicking on so many of my friends images via twitter I wanted to play too...

I'm @miniaturerhino on twitter if you wanna see more pictures of pictures, pretty light and little things like this....

p.s so happy to see a shout out for my boyfriend's work on The Shiny Squirrel in a post "A Few Things I Love" picked by an amazing blog (words, words, words) Even Cleveland . I so want to join her book club...
