ominous fortellings...

in my soup...
i swear this kinda made itself. i just help push along the butter to make the "teeth" and the left "eye" the rest was a dark omen.
which is kinda spot on. i'm not feeling well. i have a viral infection, which makes me feel like a frankenstein face, because i have swollen gums that hurt so bad. the bug tries to help by being my sweet little mang- for all of about five minutes until he ran off. i take what i can get....

the soup reminds me of these....via Lady Lavona

  1. ohhh! spooky! My great granny used to read our tea leaves. She was a strange lady, well ahead of her time, she was quite cheeky and rebellious, a huge contrast to my other great granny who was your clasic crocheting, baking, victorian style granny. I think I've managed to get a bit of both! Your blog made me think of them both today so thank you. Oh by the way I hope you feel better soon.

  3. Oh, I hope you feel better soon Jessica!! Being sick always sucks, and I'll be sending good vibes your way. Lavona's shop and blog are super amazing. I love her to bits. My great-great Grandmama read the leaves, but she was full-blooded Native American (Houma tribe), so she had a lot of gifts. My forte is the cards and pendulum!
    xo.

  4. love these stories of your grandmothers little red hen and Chad! really, so nice to hear. i had never heard of reading tea leaves before lady lavona schooled me.

Chad, what is the pendulum? never heard of it in this context...

  5. Oh Chad !!!
I do the pendulum as well !
Jessica : you can use a pendulum (it's usually a big cristal drop, or a metal piece of some sort) at the end of a chain ...
You just grab the other end of the chain and ask questions to the pendulum (that can be answered by "yes" or "no") and, depending on the way the pendulum moves, you know the answer (for example, for me : in circles = "yes" and from left-right-left... = "no")

  7. oh my!!! Poor thing...I hope you feel better ! There is a similar fortune telling technique that is similar to what you had in your 'cup of doom' called Ceromancy (also known as Ceroscopy) or simply Candle Wax Divination! Hot candle wax is dripped into a bowl of cool water and the images that appear give us messages...it's similar to Tasseography!

Thanks for the link! xo Lavona
