poetics of light

imagine seeing this show, poetics of light, by kate breakey, in person. half mausoleum, half victorian parlor room full of ghostly, playful shadows.  i was told that these are contact prints of found dead animals, but don't quote me, i can't find much info on this work.  i spotted a fat little toad that i like quite a bit, but i must say the piglet and snakes are my favorite. although, i feel a bit ashamed saying so.  finding beauty in the death of an innocent feels somewhat against nature, but i also see tenderness in these images....

  3. the show was in AZ, so i didn't get to see it but would have loved too.

the oak leaves- i've made sun prints and contact prints in the darkroom. it's a fun process huh? doesn't this make you want to start again?

  5. wow. it looks incredible...treading that very thin line between the beautiful and the skin-crawling.
