A smell good giveaway....

Hope you're having a great weekend!!

My friends at Squam wanted to share a little something with you - a beautiful Sweet Forest Sachet  hand made by Heather Renz. They are filled with balsam pine needles, which smell so sweet, light and like being in the woods. I have a little sachet of balsam fir tips that I got two years ago at Squam Lake that still smells so good and I enjoy everyday when I open my drawers! Reminds me of Squam, a lovely place to learn + explore. You can read about my past experiences teaching there here

To enter to win this sweet gift from Squam just leave a comment here saying hello and perhaps – since this is a scented giveaway – your favorite scent memory. Or like me on FB & let me know! I'll collect all the names entered until July14 & announce a winner then.
I'll start... I remember my grandmother grating lemon, picked from her lemon tree in the backyard, over a white frosted cake that we made together. The tart lemon scent with the sweet white frosting made such a great combination – one that even today can make my mouth water. You?

  1. me...(as a surprise)before leaving a friends home in Hawaii, he washed all of my clothes and hung them on the line in his backyard to dry, then packed my bag for me. when i got home and opened the suitcase the intoxicating smell of the plumerias from his garden filled my winter apartment and kept the memories of that beautiful trip alive so much longer.

    p.s. this is a lovely give-away-thanks you.

  2. My favorite scent memory is the smell of a burning campfire. It's so deliciously potent. It's as if with one smell I can remember hundreds of campfires I've had throughout a lifetime rolled into one warm cozy thought.

  3. I chuckle when as I am writing this because it isn't food or flowers, but my chocolate lab. Her smell is the most calming wonderful scent. If I could bottle her scent and energy up and take her with me everywhere I would be the most balanced person in the world. So for now I will just bury my face in her neck and breathe her in. ;)
    Thank you for this giveaway!

  5. So cute! I love the smell of lilacs. They remind me of my gram's backyard in the spring. I will literally pull my car over if I spot a lilac bush just to smell them and take some home. Love your blog!

  6. Thanks so much for the lovely giveaway. I already liked you on Facebook, so I'm ahead of the game.

I'd have to say the smell of my yarn collection. It makes me think about the farms where the sheep or alpaca were raised, also making me glad I supported a small business.

  7. Firstly, hello.

My favorite scent is of my husband right after a shower. He works so hard to provide for us, and just in general has a labor intensive job. He deserves his long showers, and seems so peaceful after one, and at rest.

  9. Hi Jessica! I loved your class at Squam! I've finished one project since coming home and am starting my second! So excited that you have a book coming out...can't wait to see it.

My favorite scent is cinnamon, as in cinnamon toast which my mom made for us and I made for my grown son, his wife and all of her family just yesterday as they joined us for a 4th of July family get together at the lake. Great timing that I read your blog today. Hope things continue to go well for you:)

  11. Hi! Lovely blog. Found you through the hand stitched tanks on pinterest. Squam seems like a wonderful place to fill up your heart <3. I'd have to say my favorite scent happens around Christmas when my mother makes stuffed grape leaves. It smells amazingly of steamed tomato sauce, lemon juice and grape leaves.

  12. My favorite scent is the first bloom of lilac. We had a large bush in our backyard where I grew up. My father would pick a big bouquet and put them in a mason jar in my bedroom. It's a wonderful memory of my childhood.

  14. I can't really describe my favourite scent memories, as I don't know what the scents actually are, but when I smell them, memories of close family members or fun times always bring a smile to my lips.

  15. I so want to win this sachet! It's perfect because one of my favorite scent memories is of the pine woods behind a green house I lived in for a short time as a child in coastal Maine. My parents made bonfires on the beach and sometimes I'd slip away into the woods. I found the close scent of the pine mixed with distant, but not too distant)scent of the beach fire comforting.

  18. Hi there! My favorite scent memory is that dry-oven smell of pine needles while hiking in the mountains. Can't get enough of it! Thanks for the opportunity to win a lovely sachet, but even more--I love your blog and work. What a fab find.

  19. My favorite smell is lavender baby lotion on my children. I love that clean smell after a bath that only children 3 and under seem to have. The lotion is great and definitely adds to the wonderful smell of the child, but there just is something so sweet and precious about the smell of small children and babies. I have often found myself inhaling the smell from my boys (when they were younger) pajamas after they changed for the day. It's a smell that makes me smile. I miss it, but sometimes I still catch a whiff of it from someone else's child when they walk by and I can't help but smile.

  21. My favorite scent memory is of lilacs. Growing up in a little house on a hill, my bedroom window looked out at lilacs that hung over the driveway. Their sweet smell always let me know that it was spring time!

  22. One of my favorite scent memories is the smell of my gram's house when I was little... it always smelled like peppermint chewing gum and avon perfume. I miss her.

  23. My scent memory? The spicy sweet smell of the rocks I used to climb. It's imbued in my husband's climbing gear. And it's not just the rocks at Carderock. It's the rocks in the region (Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland). Whenever I am lucky enough to be near a rock outcrop, I press my face to the rock and breathe deeply. Ahhh...such wonderful memories!

And my second favorite scent is the scent of very old houses. The houses in Riquewihr, France literally *exhale* the centuries. Exquisite!

  24. One of my favorite memories is the smell of honeysuckle blooming in my grandmother's yard. As a child, I loved tasting the tiny drops of sweet nectar from as many blooms as I could pick.
